Ngei 1 Development Youth Group was formed in 1997 when youths in conjunction with some community members of Ngei 1 village mooted an idea of forming a development group for the youth of the area

At the time, youths were engaged in all forms of social vices such as drug abuse, prostitution, rape, mugging etc. This was due to poverty, illiteracy and lack of information.
